I’m sure y’all are familiar with the experience of weariness. I sure am. I’m weary of COVID-19. I’m weary of folks who refuse to get vaccinated. I’m weary of waiting for General Conference. I’m weary of kids not listening. I’m weary of meetings that are too long because a handful of folks need everybody else to listen to them.
…just to name a few things.
I have a hard time remembering how to deal with weariness.
I have a hard time remembering:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (NIV)
I’m weary because I worry and because I try to handle things myself. I forget that worry is fruitless and that there is never anything I have to handle by myself. I forget to let Jesus take my burden and transform it, hand it back to me as something I can totally handle.
I just make things too hard sometimes.
But Jesus’s job for me is easy and weightless.
Breathe. Relax. Let go of your weariness. Give it to Jesus.
He’s totally got this.
Peace,
Brandon

There’s been some busyness at FUMC this week. Tom Felty and David Swecker have enlisted the help of professionals to replace floodlamps in the ceiling that are no longer in production. We hope that this will turn out to be an enlightening experience on Sunday.
