Mark 4:26-34
“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a Mustard Seed”
Rev. Mike Teague

From the Pastor’s Pen . . .
Jesus deals with God’s kingdom first in Mark’s parables.
As in the Sermon on the Mount, concern for wealth and possessions get in the way of what really matters-a heart seeking the things of heaven.
Jesus asks us to view the world and the Kingdom of God with new eyes,
as in a seed growing mysteriously,
and something really great springing from something so insignificant as
a mustard seed.
–Rev. Mike

This week’s Feed the Hungry offering is for
Local Missions.
This mission helps members of our church family and other
immediate local mission needs.

How You Can Help
There are lots of ways you can support Reading Buddies-

Be a Reading Buddy: Just 30 minutes weekly during the school year helps a child sharpen their reading and interpersonal relationship skills
Donate: money is needed to fund background checks for all volunteers, food for Family Nights to introduce the program and assist parents, books for participating students, as well as other support costs. Your donation is tax-deductible.

Books: participating students need a library of age-appropriate books to choose from.

Last Sunday
Third Sunday After Pentecost
Rev. Brandon Berg

Finally, Jesus said:
What is God’s kingdom like? What story can I use to explain it? It is like what happens when a mustard seed is planted in the ground. It is the smallest seed in all the world. But once it is planted, it grows larger than any
garden plant.
Mark 26: 30-34

I pray that the Lord will listen when you are in trouble,
and that the God of Jacob
will keep you safe.

~Psalm 20:1

Open my eyes that I may see
Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me.
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free.

~Clara H. Scott, 1895

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory forever and ever.

Amen.
Last Week in Children’s Sunday School
Mr. Mike taught us about the birds not worrying because
God provides for their needs. He read from Matthew 6: 25-34.
Ms. Suzanne and Mr. Mike tended to the fish tank also.

Mr. Mike thinks that some kind of critter has been digging holes in the garden and eating the seeds that we planted last week- maybe a crow or a skunk!
We had a snack that Mr. Mike called
Mud and Worms! It is really chocolate pudding and Oreo cookies, with gummy worms also.
