FUMC Bristol Newsletter April 27th-May3rd, 2017

The future of the UMC and its sustainability (based on denominational and national trends/statistics) are not encouraging. Some denominational leaders refer to these trends as a ‘death tsunami’. But this need not be IF the denomination and local congregations are willing to honestly look at these statistics, shamelessly talk about them and courageously/prayerfully do our part to become a VITAL CONGREGATION in direct response to it.
Not every congregation will be willing. May it not be so with us.
Join us for an 8-week series on what makes a congregation VITAL and how we can do our part to uphold our life-giving mission of
“making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”
We will use Scripture, denominational resources/statistics and congregational interviews
 for weekly inspiration.
Come join us and invite a friend who may have given up on the local church…

Mime Holy Communion Service
This past Maundy Thursday Service, Dr. Alan Gorrell and Donna Camper
concluded our service with a powerful silent Mime Communion, depicting the birth, life and death of Christ with a loaf of bread as the focal point.
Pastorally, let me encourage you to consider inviting Alan and Donna to share this powerful enactment with any small group you attend, both inside and outside our church.
